Definition of Done (Scrum Elements)

Definition

The definition of done is the criteria that must be met by an item added from the Product Backlog, and into the Sprint Backlog in order for it to be considered complete and part of the current Increment. It is important that these definitions are short and understandable by all, so that it is easy to determine whether their requirements have been met, so that the items can be considered “done.“ While the definition of done can be overlooked as unnecessary or obvious, the exercise of outlining exactly what it is can often be more enlightening than you might imagine at first glance.
