Perplexity AI, an AI-powered search engine, has announced the acquisition of Read.cv, a professional networking platform. This strategic move marks Perplexity’s third major acquisition, following its earlier purchases of Carbon and Spellwise.
As part of the transition, Read.cv will begin winding down its operations starting January 17, 2025. Users are encouraged to export their data, including profiles, posts, and messages, by May 16, 2025. Additionally, personal websites associated with “.cv” domains will be migrated to Hello.cv beginning January 31, 2025, allowing users to continue managing their sites seamlessly.
Founded in 2021 by Andy Chung, a former product designer at Facebook and Mozilla, Read.cv provided professionals with a platform to showcase resumes, connect with peers, and explore job opportunities. The integration of Read.cv’s team into Perplexity is expected to bolster Perplexity’s efforts in merging consumer-focused design with advanced AI capabilities.
Aravind Srinivas, CEO of Perplexity, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition, stating, “We’re excited to have the Read.cv team join Perplexity. The team is incredibly capable in designing and building consumer and social experiences, and we look forward to working with them on many new exciting directions!”
Perplexity has been expanding its services to cater to enterprise needs, introducing features such as internal knowledge search and user management. Supported by substantial venture capital funding exceeding $500 million and a valuation of $9 billion, Perplexity is poised to further its influence in both corporate and consumer technology markets.
