When an AI assistant reads your brand before a buyer does, and the platform that times your messages changes owners mid-contract, who decides what your customer sees next? On October 20, 2026, five announcements answered parts of that question. Salesforce (NYSE: CRM) signed a definitive agreement to acquire Braze (NASDAQ: BRZE) for approximately $5.66 billion in enterprise value, or $47.50 in cash per Braze Class A share, with closing expected in Salesforce’s fiscal year 2028. Demandbase, the B2B go-to-market platform, launched three AI agents, including an AEO Agent that tracks how AI assistants describe a brand. AdFury, the Arkansas retail media software company, released a tool that builds Walmart product page content from a brand’s existing listing. Vectorial, a San Francisco behavior simulation startup, raised a $3 million seed round, and Comarch Loyalty rebuilt Azerbaijan Airlines’ AZAL Miles program into a spend-based digital wallet.

The Salesforce and Braze agreement announced on October 20, 2026 moves the real-time engagement layer for Braze’s approximately 2,770 customers, including Canva, Dairy Queen, Instacart and Venmo, toward the company that sells Marketing Cloud, Data 360 and Agentforce. Salesforce said Braze will complement all four layers of its architecture and strengthen Marketing Cloud’s cross-channel personalization. Braze CEO Bill Magnuson said the company will keep building as Braze. Neither company said how Braze will relate to Marketing Cloud’s existing journey products after close. Teams that run Braze beside a cloud data warehouse and a non-Salesforce customer relationship management (CRM) system now hold a contract whose counterparty changes some time after February 2027. Both companies cited an open, composable approach, and you get to decide how much of that phrase goes into your contract. The Agile Brand Guide covered the deal terms in a separate report.

Demandbase worked the buyer’s side of the same problem on October 20, 2026. At its GO conference in New York, Demandbase launched an AEO Agent, a Campaign Agent and an Audience Agent. The AEO Agent compares how major AI assistants describe and recommend a company to individual buying group members, draws on what Demandbase reports as more than 342 million contacts across 13 million companies, and identifies the sources behind those answers. That workflow puts answer engine optimization (AEO) inside account-based marketing. Demandbase cited a Gartner prediction that AI agents will intermediate 90% of B2B buying by 2028, and Demandbase exposes its agents through APIs and Model Context Protocol (MCP) connections so a marketer can query Demandbase from an existing assistant. Demandbase did not name the AI assistants the AEO Agent monitors and did not publish pricing.

AdFury changed the production math for the digital shelf on October 20, 2026. AdFury’s rich media tool pulls imagery, descriptions and attributes from a brand’s live Walmart product detail page (PDP) and assembles below-the-fold content from 10 modules, including comparison tables, FAQs and image carousels, each validated against Walmart’s OmniSpec APIs and Item Spec 5.0 before submission. AdFury claims up to 75% time savings and up to a 40% conversion lift and published no methodology for either figure. For brands buying retail media on Walmart, the review hours still land on a person. A brand with 400 SKUs and five modules per SKU produces 2,000 modules, and at two minutes of compliance review per module, someone on your team spends about 67 hours checking them.

Vectorial, the San Francisco human behavior simulation platform, raised $3 million on October 20, 2026 to sell a different input: modeled customers. Vectorial says its SAPIENS behavior model predicts behavior 30% more accurately than general-purpose LLMs and that its simulations reproduced prior user-study findings with more than 85% accuracy; both figures are self-reported. Marketing teams can run a campaign, brand message or customer-facing AI agent past the modeled audience before launch, which places Vectorial in synthetic research. A synthetic panel gives your team a first read in minutes. Finance will still ask for a live test before the budget moves.

Comarch Loyalty showed an owned engagement channel at work on October 20, 2026. Azerbaijan Airlines’ AZAL Miles now ties status miles to ticket spend, lets members earn and spend miles with non-airline partners through a QR scanner in the AZAL app, splits payments between cash and miles, and exchanges miles for Bolt ride-hailing vouchers. Comarch’s automation engine issues welcome miles, birthday miles and segment promo codes without manual steps. Comarch published no member or revenue results for the relaunch.

The October 20, 2026 releases put three controls in front of a chief marketing officer (CMO): the contract terms on the platform that executes real-time engagement decisions, the evidence of how AI assistants describe the brand, and the human review between generated content and a live listing.

Price your engagement platform renewal against the acquisition timeline

Take a retailer that pays $900,000 a year for Braze, with a renewal date in April 2027. Salesforce expects the acquisition to close in its fiscal year 2028, which begins in February 2027, so that renewal could land weeks after close.

Option one: renew for three years with a 5% annual price cap. Spend runs $900,000, $945,000 and $992,250, for $2,837,250 over three years.

Option two: renew for one year at flat pricing, then absorb a 20% increase in years two and three if Braze gets repackaged into Salesforce bundles. Spend runs $900,000, $1,080,000 and $1,080,000, for $3,060,000.

In that scenario the cap is worth $222,750, before any migration cost. If repackaging also means moving live journeys onto a Marketing Cloud product, add the hours to rebuild and test every one of them. I’ve watched a journey migration consume two quarters of a lifecycle team’s roadmap.

The 20% increase is an assumption for illustration. Neither Salesforce nor Braze has announced pricing or packaging changes, and the transaction still needs Braze shareholder and regulatory approval. Put your own contract value, renewal date and repricing tolerance into the model, and write data export, warehouse connector support and non-Salesforce CRM integrations into the renewal.

Treat these figures as vendor claims until your own data confirms them

The $5.66 billion enterprise value, $47.50 per-share price and approximately 2,770 customer count come from the Salesforce and Braze announcement and Braze’s October 20, 2026 SEC filing; closing depends on Braze shareholder approval and regulatory approvals. Demandbase’s 342 million contacts across 13 million companies are self-reported, and the 90% B2B intermediation figure is a Gartner prediction that Demandbase cited. AdFury’s up-to-75% time savings and up-to-40% conversion lift carry no published methodology, sample or test period. Vectorial’s 30% accuracy advantage over general-purpose LLMs and 85% reproduction rate are Vectorial’s own figures, with no named benchmark set. Comarch Loyalty’s 1.3 billion members and 15 billion annual transactions describe Comarch’s full client base, and Comarch published no AZAL Miles results.

Set these priorities before your next renewal or agent contract

Strategic priorities for marketing leaders:

  • Write portability into engagement contracts. Salesforce’s October 20, 2026 agreement to acquire Braze changes the counterparty on Braze contracts after close; secure price caps, data export and warehouse connector commitments now.
  • Measure what AI assistants say about your brand. Demandbase’s AEO Agent compares assistant answers by buying group member; ask any vendor in this category which assistants it queries and how often.
  • Budget review hours for generated product content. AdFury builds Walmart PDP modules in minutes; staff the compliance and claims review before you scale to the full catalog.
  • Validate simulations against live tests. Vectorial’s modeled audiences give a fast first read; keep a holdout or live test before a simulated result moves budget.
  • Audit loyalty as an owned channel. Comarch’s AZAL Miles relaunch ties earning to spend and partner purchases; check whether your loyalty data feeds the same decisioning engine as your messaging.

So who decides what your customer sees next? On October 20, 2026, Salesforce moved to own the engine that decides in real time, Demandbase offered to show you what AI assistants already say about you, and AdFury and Vectorial offered faster content and faster answers that still need a person’s sign-off. Pull your engagement platform contracts this week, mark every renewal that falls after February 2027, and negotiate caps and export terms before the deal closes.
