An AI recommendation puts a brand on a shopper’s list, and the shopper’s own checking decides whether the brand gets bought. Nine marketing technology and AI releases carried September 15, 2026 datelines, and they split along that line. Profound raised a $180 million Series D at a $1.8 billion valuation on September 15, 2026 to help brands get named inside AI answers. Bazaarvoice published survey results the same day on what shoppers do after the naming: when an AI tool presented several options, 65% of the more than 3,600 US and EMEA shoppers Bazaarvoice surveyed with retail media analyst Kiri Masters clicked the brand they already knew, 24% clicked the product the tool labeled its top match, and 11% clicked the cheapest.

Sinch and Cordial also released consumer research on AI-assisted holiday shopping on September 15, 2026. OneIMS expanded its Answer Engine Optimization (AEO) service for manufacturers and B2B companies. Zoom (NASDAQ: ZM), Keynes and Circana shipped plain-language analysis tools that work inside their own data. Mediaocean launched Mediaocean AI Ventures to invest in advertising AI startups.

Profound’s September 15, 2026 release describes a company moving from measurement into execution. Profound stated that it serves more than 1,000 enterprise brands, including more than one third of the Fortune 100, and that the round closed less than seven months after a $96 million Series C. Profound’s AI Marketer deploys sub-agents that refresh stale content, find earned media openings and launch ads, and its Ads Studio builds AI search campaigns across the OpenAI, Google and Meta ad managers. Profound told buyers that where organic visibility runs thin, teams can cover the gap with paid ads.

The vendor that reports where your Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) program comes up short now also sells the media that fills the hole. Read its dashboards with that in mind.

OneIMS, an AEO agency serving manufacturers and B2B companies, made a smaller version of the same move on September 15, 2026, converting a one-time AI visibility audit into a recurring service under its MAPS Framework. OneIMS stated that AI platforms keep changing how they retrieve and cite information, so a single audit dates quickly. Profound and OneIMS both priced AI answer presence as a standing line item, the way brands already budget ongoing Share of Voice (SOV) tracking for older channels.

Bazaarvoice measured the step after the answer. Bazaarvoice reported on September 15, 2026 that 94% of respondents do outside research after receiving an AI recommendation, with one third spending more than an hour verifying the product, and that 76% require customer photos or videos and 75% require written reviews before buying an unfamiliar AI-recommended product. Bazaarvoice also found that 57% would switch to an AI-recommended generic alternative only if it cost at least 50% less than their preferred brand. Bazaarvoice sells review collection and syndication, and it drew the sample from Influenster, the review community Bazaarvoice owns, so the respondents skew toward people who already read and write reviews. Discount the magnitude and keep the direction.

Sinch measured trust by task. Sinch reported on September 15, 2026 that 43% of 2,501 consumers across eight markets expect AI to make holiday shopping easier in 2026, down from 48% in 2025, and that the United States figure sits at 26%. The same Sinch survey found 81% of shoppers confident in an AI assistant handling order tracking and 62% confident in one handling payment or billing changes. Cordial, the agentic messaging platform with an embedded Customer Data Platform (CDP), reported on September 15, 2026 that 34% of holiday shoppers are comfortable letting an AI agent complete purchases based on their preferences and budget, and that 13% would let one buy without review. Cordial’s release stated no sample size. A Shopping Agent cleared to buy unreviewed for 13% of Cordial’s respondents leaves the other 87% either checking the purchase or declining the agent.

Work the numbers on a challenger brand. Say your brand wins the top-match label in 10,000 AI-assisted shopping sessions this November, and each shopper also sees an incumbent brand they already know. Apply Bazaarvoice’s September 15, 2026 click split and roughly 2,400 of those sessions click through to you while about 6,500 go to the familiar name. Of your 2,400, Bazaarvoice’s 76% figure says most will look for customer photos before buying. If your product page carries 12 reviews and no photos, your AI visibility bought you a shortlist spot and a bounce.

The session count and the scenario above are illustrative, and Bazaarvoice’s percentages record what survey respondents said they do, which can differ from what they click. Use the arithmetic to order the budget anyway: a challenger funds photo reviews before it funds a second AI visibility tool.

Zoom, Keynes and Circana each shipped an analysis layer on September 15, 2026 that answers plain-language questions from inside the vendor’s own data. Zoom (NASDAQ: ZM) added Forecast, which turns deal-level signals into a live forecast and writes commitment updates back to the CRM, and cited customer Barracuda Networks reporting a 15% increase in deals closed with Zoom Revenue Accelerator. Keynes, the performance connected TV company, launched kAI, which answers questions across a brand’s connected paid media data without exporting campaign information to a third party. Circana added Analysis Builder to Unify+, generating presentation-ready charts and written insight summaries that export to PowerPoint and Excel.

Each of those three tools explains performance from the data its vendor holds. Suppose Keynes’ kAI credits a sales lift to connected TV and Circana’s Analysis Builder credits the same week to a competitor’s stockout. Someone on your team decides which explanation goes in the quarterly review, and that person needs the underlying data from both vendors to decide.

Mediaocean, the advertising software company that operates the Prisma system of record for media management and finance, launched Mediaocean AI Ventures on September 15, 2026 with CVC Capital Partners, TA Associates and Eterna Growth Partners named as strategic backers. Mediaocean disclosed no fund size or check terms. Mediaocean offers portfolio startups a path into the daily workflows of large agencies and brands through its NIVO AI framework and Model Context Protocol footprint. Expect some of the AI tools your agency proposes over the next year to arrive pre-integrated with the software that already bills your media, and ask who backs them.

What these releases do not prove

Every figure in this edition comes from the issuing company or a customer it named, and The Agile Brand Guide has not independently verified any of it. Profound’s customer counts and Fortune list shares are self-reported, and Profound disclosed no revenue. Bazaarvoice drew its more than 3,600 respondents from its own Influenster community and sells the review products its findings favor. Sinch’s sample weights toward the United States at 698 of 2,501 respondents, and Sinch dropped India and Canada from the 2025 sample, which limits the year-over-year comparison from 48% to 43%.

Cordial’s release gave no sample size, field dates or methodology. Zoom’s deal-closing figures come from one customer, Barracuda Networks, with no baseline period stated. Keynes, Circana and OneIMS published no performance figures. Mediaocean disclosed no fund size.

Strategic priorities for marketing leaders

  • Fund proof before a second visibility tool. Bazaarvoice’s September 15, 2026 survey tied purchase of unfamiliar AI recommendations to customer photos at 76% and written reviews at 75%.
  • Report organic and paid AI search separately. Profound now sells visibility measurement and the Ads Studio product that covers visibility gaps, so require the two in separate lines.
  • Deploy service agents by task. Sinch reported September 15, 2026 confidence at 81% for order tracking and 62% for billing changes; start where confidence already sits.
  • Keep raw data access in analysis-layer contracts. Zoom Forecast, Keynes kAI and Circana Analysis Builder each explain results from their own data.
  • Ask agencies who backs a recommended tool. Mediaocean AI Ventures gives its portfolio companies a route into agency media workflows.

An AI answer adds your brand to a shopper’s list. The shopper’s own research sets the order, and as of September 15, 2026 three separate surveys from Bazaarvoice, Sinch and Cordial put reviews, photos and familiarity at the center of that research.

Pull the review count and photo count for your top 50 product pages before November traffic arrives, fix the thinnest ten first, and put that audit on the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) agenda this week.
