The app is free, requires no Adobe account to start, and includes Firefly generative tools — opening mobile video production to field, regional and social teams without new hardware or Creative Cloud seats.
Adobe has released the Adobe Premiere mobile app for Android, extending the editor it launched on iPhone in September 2025 to the platform that runs the majority of smartphones worldwide. The app is available now in the Google Play Store, free, for devices running Android 13 or later with at least 5GB of RAM.
For enterprise marketing teams, the release removes a practical constraint on who can produce social video. Mobile capture and editing inside organizations tends to happen on whatever phone the employee, field team member or contracted creator already carries — and across most international markets, that device runs Android. Premiere mobile on Android puts a professional-grade editing toolset on that hardware at no cost, with no forced login, no watermark and no ads.
The announcement came in a company blog post from Mike Polner, who leads product marketing for Adobe’s creator-facing portfolio. Adobe describes the Android release as shaped by direct community feedback from the app’s first year on iPhone, where it has been used for day-in-the-life vlogs, tutorials, podcast clips and social content.
What teams get
Adobe lists the following in the Android release:
- Enhance Audio — one-tap reduction of background noise and improved clarity on interviews, voiceovers and other recordings, which addresses the single most common quality problem with footage shot in the field.
- Frame-accurate editing — precise control over cut points, including timing a reaction or matching an edit to the beat of a track.
- A multi-track timeline — video, music, text and effects layered in one view.
- Creator-made templates — a starting point for teams without dedicated editing staff, customizable from there.
- Effects, transitions, creative assets and music from Adobe Stock, a user’s own files, or audio extracted from existing clips.
- Editing and export up to 4K.
- Firefly-powered generative AI, including Generative Fill, Image-to-Video and Generate Sound Effects.
The free tier covers the editing essentials. Paid upgrades cover additional generative credits and cloud storage, which keeps the entry cost for broad rollout at zero and ties spend to actual generative usage rather than seat count.
Adobe has also outlined additions coming to the Android app: Adobe Fonts, enhanced captions, keyframes, cropping, beat detection, and continued editing on Premiere desktop for work that moves from a phone to a finishing pass.
A supported path forward for Rush users
The timing lines up with Adobe’s transition away from Premiere Rush, its earlier mobile editor, for which technical support ends September 30, 2026. Rush ran on Android, and the new Premiere mobile app now gives those teams a current, actively developed Adobe editor on the same hardware, with a considerably deeper feature set than Rush offered.
Organizations still holding work in Rush have a clear destination for it, and the arrival of Premiere on Android means the migration no longer requires moving Android users onto different devices or into desktop-only workflows.
Why enterprise marketing leaders should take note
The most useful way to read this release is as a change in who inside an organization can produce publishable video.
Short-form social demand has outpaced what centralized creative teams can supply at most enterprises, and the gap is usually filled by regional teams, field marketers, event staff and partner creators working from phones. Giving those contributors a free editor with studio-quality audio cleanup, frame-level precision and generative assets raises the floor on what comes back from the field — which in turn reduces the volume of rough footage that has to be rescued centrally.
The release also fits a broader Adobe pattern of meeting teams where the work already happens, alongside Adobe for Slack and Adobe for ChatGPT. Rather than requiring a trip into a dedicated creative application to start a job, Adobe is placing entry points into the tools and devices people already have open. For marketing operations leaders, that shifts the planning question from license provisioning toward how generative credit consumption should be budgeted and governed as usage scales.
Worth confirming before a broad rollout: how content produced in guest mode or on personal devices should flow into approved brand and asset workflows, and where teams want generative usage to sit relative to existing AI-disclosure policies. Adobe’s announcement focuses on creator capability rather than administration, so those details are best worked out with an Adobe account team.
