What does one unit in your marketing report actually count? On September 21, 2026, four companies published answers for four different units. True North Social, a Culver City paid social agency, stated in a GlobeNewswire release that Meta’s average price per ad rose 12% year over year in both the first and second quarters of 2026, which means a flat Meta budget buys roughly 10.7% fewer impressions than it did a year earlier. IPinfo, the Seattle internet data company, launched IPinfo Places, a dataset of about 2.7 million venue IP addresses where a single address can carry thousands of devices. DigiPuush, an Answer Engine Optimization (AEO) agency in Bangalore, classified 39 of 50 B2B websites, or 78%, as Weak or Very Weak for AI search readiness. TILT Story, a Detroit healthcare marketing agency, merged with LionShare, a Kansas City healthcare CRM and marketing automation firm, to tie marketing activity to measurable return.

Meta Platforms (NASDAQ: META) published the underlying price figures in its own filings. Meta’s Form 10-Q for the quarter ended June 30, 2026 reports average price per ad up 12% and ad impressions delivered up 14% year over year, and its Form 10-Q for the quarter ended March 31, 2026 reports 12% and 19%. The 10.7% figure is True North Social’s arithmetic: at a 12% higher price, one dollar buys 89.3% of the impressions it bought a year earlier. Meta computes that number as an average across every advertiser, placement and region, so an individual account can run well above or below it.

A flat budget in a 12% more expensive auction is a 10.7% impression cut that nobody signed.

Put that on a hypothetical account. A retailer spends $150,000 a month on Meta at a $12 CPM in mid-2025 and buys 12.5 million impressions. The retailer holds spend flat into mid-2026, pays a CPM 12% higher at $13.44, and buys about 11.2 million impressions, roughly 1.3 million fewer for the same invoice. If the team’s reported return on ad spend (ROAS) held steady across that year, the team raised conversions per impression by about 12% to absorb the price, and that gain belongs in the quarterly review. If reported ROAS fell by about 11%, the team held efficiency flat and paid the auction’s increase. Your finance partners will read both scenarios as the same problem until someone on your team puts Meta’s price line next to the ROAS line.

With its September 21, 2026 launch, IPinfo took on a second unit, the user. Many advertising workflows treat one IP address as one household. IPinfo stated that at an airport, stadium or conference center one address can represent thousands of devices, and that Places lets adtech platforms flag those addresses so frequency caps stop treating a venue as one person, reach counts stop collapsing many devices into one, and attribution models skip joins on shared IPs. IPinfo said Places covers about 2.7 million venue IPs across 236 countries and 57 venue categories at launch. Froyoo, a data management platform IPinfo named as an early adopter, adds venue context to about 7% of its daily active users, according to IPinfo, which also stated that enriched inventory can carry up to three times the value of generic inventory. IPinfo published no method behind the three-times figure.

Ask your DSP how it treats an IP address with 4,000 phones behind it. Your frequency, reach and attribution numbers all depend on the answer.

DigiPuush measured a third unit, the readiness score. DigiPuush stated that its AI Search Readiness Benchmark 2026, published September 21, 2026, scored 50 Google-visible B2B websites across five software and business-technology categories on 15 readiness dimensions, with an average of 37.9 out of 100 and a median of 40.9. DigiPuush also listed the limits: it scored public website characteristics only, did not measure how often ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity or Google AI Mode recommend any of the 50 companies, and did not sample every B2B company in India. A readiness score is an input measure. A marketing team that reports it to the board as AI visibility reports a proxy as an outcome, and DigiPuush sells the AEO services its benchmark scores.

TILT Story took on the fourth unit, revenue, through its merger with LionShare, announced on PR Newswire on September 21, 2026. TILT Story stated that healthcare marketing has a gap in matching measurable ROI to marketing actions, and that combining LionShare’s proprietary healthcare CRM with TILT Story’s brand and creative work gives hospital and health system clients a way to close it. LionShare keeps its name, and President Sara Dykes continues to lead the team. Neither company disclosed terms, client counts or a single ROI figure. A health system evaluating the combined firm can ask for one closed-loop example, a campaign traced through the CRM to patient volume, before it reads the capabilities deck.

True North Social described the same discipline from the agency side. The agency stated that it reconciles Meta-reported conversions against backend revenue in Shopify, WooCommerce or Klaviyo before any figure reaches a client report, and that every report names its attribution window, because a 7-day click number sitting beside a 1-day click number explains most client disputes about Meta performance. Reconciliation costs analyst hours every month. A Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) who skips it pays later, when finance reconciles the numbers without marketing in the room.

Treat every figure in this edition as a claim until you check it

Meta’s 12% price-per-ad figures are the only numbers in this edition that appear in a regulatory filing, and anyone can read them in the Form 10-Q text. The 10.7% impression shortfall is derived arithmetic applied to an average. IPinfo’s 2.7 million venue IPs, Froyoo’s 7% coverage and the up-to-three-times inventory value are vendor-reported, with no disclosed methodology. DigiPuush’s 78% comes from 50 websites scored on a proprietary framework built by an agency that sells the remedy. TILT Story and LionShare published no outcome data.

None of the four companies measured what spend caused. Reported ROAS credits a channel with every attributed sale. Incremental return on ad spend (iROAS) counts only the sales an ad caused, and incrementality testing against a holdout group is the method that separates the two. Each of the four companies sharpened a reported number on September 21, 2026. Your team still has to run the test that shows cause.

Strategic priorities for marketing leaders

  • Price the auction before you judge the account. Restate Q1 through Q3 2026 Meta results against Meta’s reported 12% rise in average price per ad before the Q3 business review, and show finance both lines on one chart.
  • Ask every DSP and measurement vendor how it handles shared venue IPs. Get the answer in writing for frequency capping, reach and attribution, because one policy drives all three numbers.
  • Report readiness scores and recommendation data on separate lines. Budget AEO work against measured citation or recommendation frequency, and log a site audit score as an input metric.
  • Require a named attribution window and a backend reconciliation on every paid social report. A report that omits the window forces finance to guess which one you used.
  • Run one holdout test on your largest paid channel this quarter. You read reported ROAS to see where credit landed and a holdout to see what the spend bought.

Back to the opening question. Write down what one impression, one user, one readiness point and one attributed dollar count in your reports, name the source behind each definition, and bring that page to the Q3 business review. Start with Meta, because Meta already published the price.

Teams can also ask their DSP and measurement vendors how they handle shared venue IPs, the problem IPinfo described in its September 21, 2026 Places launch, and report AI search readiness scores such as DigiPuush’s separately from measured AI recommendation data.
