Product History

Treasure Data was founded in 2011 by Hiro Yoshikawa, Kazuki Ohta, and Eduardo Silva as a big data analytics company offering a flexible data lake service. In 2014, they pivoted to focus more directly on customer data management. The turning point came in 2018 when Arm Ltd., a SoftBank-owned semiconductor and IoT company, acquired Treasure Data to strengthen its IoT device-to-cloud solutions. In 2021, Treasure Data re-established itself as an independent company following its acquisition by private equity firm Carlyle Group, and has since operated as a leading enterprise CDP with a strong emphasis on scalability and privacy-centric data unification.
