  • Noise Cancellation: Uses a Deep Neural Network to remove distracting background sounds (e.g., dogs barking, keyboard clicks, street noise) from the user’s microphone.
  • Voice Cancellation: Removes other human voices in the background, ensuring only the primary speaker is heard.
  • Echo Cancellation: Eliminates room and acoustic echo, preventing the feedback loop common in meetings where speakers are not using headphones.

Brief history of the product

Krisp was founded in 2017 by Davit Baghdasaryan and Artavazd Minasyan in Armenia. The company, originally named 2Hz, developed its noise-cancellation technology based on deep learning. It gained significant traction and widespread adoption during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 as remote work became the global standard, making clear communication in noisy home environments a critical need. The company secured a $5 million Series A funding round in 2020 and a subsequent $9 million Series A-1 round in 2021 to fuel its growth and expand its enterprise offerings. Since then, Krisp has evolved from a simple noise-cancellation tool into a comprehensive AI-powered voice productivity platform with features like transcription and meeting summaries.
