Transcend is a data privacy infrastructure platform that helps companies programmatically manage user data privacy and automate compliance with global regulations like GDPR, CCPA, and more. Its key differentiator is its code-based, engineering-first approach, which deeply integrates into a company’s tech stack to discover and orchestrate personal data across disparate systems automatically, rather than relying on manual workflows.

Brief history of the product
Transcend was founded in 2017 by Ben Brook and Mike Farrell. The company publicly launched in 2019 with a vision to give individuals more control over their personal data by building a programmatic, engineering-centric solution to privacy challenges. Instead of focusing on manual checklists and workflows, their approach was to treat privacy as a technical problem that could be solved with code and automation.
The company raised a $25 million Series A funding round in 2020 led by Index Ventures and Accel. In 2022, Transcend secured an additional $40 million in a Series B round led by StepStone Group, with participation from previous investors, to further expand its platform and market presence.
