Brief History
Zeta Global was founded in 2007 by David A. Steinberg and former Apple CEO John Sculley, originally as XL Marketing. The company rebranded to Zeta Interactive and later to Zeta Global, growing significantly through a strategy of strategic acquisitions. Key acquisitions included the ad tech company Adchemy (2014), eBay’s enterprise services unit (formerly GSI Commerce) (2016), machine learning company Boomtrain (2017), and key assets from the bankrupt ad-tech firm Sizmek, including its Demand Side Platform (DSP) and Customer Data Platform (CDP) (2019).
