In TAM, PEOU influences both Perceived Usefulness (PU) and an individual’s intention to use a technology—because tools that feel hard to use tend to get avoided, worked around, or “used” only during audits.

How to utilize Perceived Ease of Use
PEOU is primarily an adoption and productivity lever. It helps diagnose whether low usage is due to lack of value (PU problem) or excessive friction (PEOU problem). In marketing teams, friction frequently shows up as shadow processes: spreadsheets, manual QA checklists, and “just ask Sam to do it.”

- Vendor evaluation: Compare tools by having real users complete realistic tasks and then score PEOU immediately after.

- Reduce decisions at the point of work. Provide defaults, guardrails, and validation that prevent rework (UTM builders, required fields, consent checks).
