Data Management Platform (DMP)

Definition

A Data Management Platform (DMP) is web-based software used by marketers to collect and manage data, and is most often used in the context of augmenting other advertising data in order to target audience segments.

The data that a DMP stores can vary, but often includes customer information, demographics, cookie IDs, mobile device IDs and more.

Note: With third-party cookie deprecation, and decreased usage of mobile device identifiers, DMPs are subject to large changes over the next several years.
